As a Construction Planner at Sibanye Stillwater, you will directly report to the Mine Support Construction General Foreman, playing a vital role in ensuring the success of operational and capital projects at the Stillwater Mine. Your responsibilities will encompass providing essential planning and scheduling support to the construction team, conducting QA/QC audits of field-related work, and driving initiatives aimed at process optimization. You will engage in project support that enhances the development and progress tracking of both operational and capital infrastructure projects, ensuring that every aspect of construction aligns with our high-performance culture. To excel in the Construction Planner role at Sibanye Stillwater, a diverse skill set and relevant experience are essential. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in engineering, ideally supported by a degree in a related field, alongside 0-3 years of relevant mine experience. Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Projects), and JD Edwards (or equivalent) is crucial for managing tasks efficiently, including conducting QA/QC audits and organizing work order backlogs. Strong troubleshooting and problem-diagnosing skills will enable you to address challenges effectively while coordinating closely with mine support groups to ensure project scopes are met. You will need to demonstrate leadership qualities-character, teamwork, and clear communication-as you collaborate with various stakeholders, including shift supervisors and contractors. A good understanding of narrow vein underground mine operations, coupled with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, will drive continuous improvement and optimize project execution.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree or related field with 0-3 years' relevant mine experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Projects)
  • JDE or equivalent
  • Ability to work within both a team environment and independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of narrow vein underground mine operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems
  • Work closely with mine support groups to ensure identified needs are addressed through project scope and execution
  • Manage projects of various size and complexity

Responsibilities

  • Provide essential planning and scheduling support to the construction team
  • Conduct QA/QC audits of field-related work
  • Drive initiatives aimed at process optimization
  • Engage in project support that enhances the development and progress tracking of both operational and capital infrastructure projects
  • Ensure a safe working environment so that 'Everyone goes home safe Today'
  • Attend daily lineouts for collaboration on daily priorities
  • Meet with shift Supervisors/Leadmen regarding construction equipment priorities and review the events and work in progress during the previous shift
  • Attend weekly and quarterly planning meetings to set priorities to meet the mine plan
  • Organize and schedule through JD Edwards; Work Order Backlogs from information gathered from Work Requests and PM Check Sheets
  • Initiate Work Orders for planned work requested in weekly planning meetings
  • Coordinate with other planners on the same job plan
  • Allocate or reserve materials and/or initiate warehouse pick tickets for scheduled work
  • Ensure all information needed to support the planning process and creation of job packages are complete
  • Support responsibility to contact vendors concerning estimated pricing and availability of parts
  • Assist in arranging support crafts and contractors as needed for scheduled jobs
  • Provide information to update drawings, parts list, job steps etc. as the job is complete
  • Work as part of a team to help research and develop technological advances inefficiencies and operating systems and ensure changes integrate with existing infrastructure
  • Cover shift supervisor's duties as needed during absences
