About the position
The position involves facilitating the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens. The Specialist must follow policies to correctly identify patients before obtaining specimens, properly label and document the specimens, and prepare them for shipment. Additionally, the role requires entering all required patient/test information into the Company LIS or completing the Company's manual requisition to process, result, and bill the sample. Customer service and compassion are essential when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff. The Specialist is also responsible for performing data entry of patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens
- Follow policies to correctly identify the patient before any specimen is obtained
- Properly label and document the specimens and prepare for shipment
- Enter all required patient/test information into the Company LIS or complete the Company's manual requisition
- Demonstrate customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
- Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of specimen collector experience in a physician practice, medical clinic or hospital setting
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing
- Professional client service principles and practices
