About The Position

The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructor assistants to teach on-site and online courses for our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program for upcoming openings. We are seeking qualified applicants who possess current subject matter expertise and have a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses: Emergency patient care, Basic human anatomy and physiology needed to perform a patient assessment, Recognition of a patient in cardiac arrest, CPR/AED For Healthcare Providers & Professional Rescuers, Identifying and managing OB-GYN emergencies, Triage and transportation of patients in major disasters, and Other Related Topics.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver course materials and design learning assessments.
  • Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning.
  • Stay current within the subject, discipline or field of practice.
  • Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline/explain the grading policies for the course.
  • Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.
  • Employ teaching methodologies that support the academic success of students with a variety of backgrounds, experiences and learning styles.
