About The Position

The Outreach Coordinator will serve as a part-time staff member for the Mobility Development Operations (MDP) funded by LADOT UBM. This role focuses on community outreach and engagement, promoting transportation equity, and building relationships with diverse stakeholders. The position requires excellent communication skills and a commitment to community interests, with responsibilities that include executing outreach plans, coordinating events, and collaborating with various organizations.

Requirements

  • An understanding of and commitment to diversity, transportation equity, inclusion, and environmental justice.
  • Native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to translate and interpret quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in outreach, community education, and/or community organizing.
  • Familiarity with the history and cultures of immigrant communities and communities of color in South Los Angeles.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in marketing, urban planning, social work, community relations, or similar fields.
  • Familiarity with municipal government in Los Angeles, including decision-making processes and key local actors.
  • Knowledge of community organizing, outreach, and L.A.'s political system, including Neighborhood Council structure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an intensive and ongoing outreach campaign in the South LA community through direct contact with community members and local stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with LADOT, the Steering Committee, and SLATE-Z CBO Ambassadors to conduct on-the-ground outreach and support the existing Outreach Plan.
  • Support the planning and organization of workshops, focus groups, and community forums, troubleshooting barriers for disadvantaged communities.
  • Implement recruitment techniques for programs such as the e-bike library and Zero Emission Delivery (ZED).
  • Attend community meetings and events to introduce and promote the UBM pilot Program.
  • Assist in developing print materials, web content, and social media posts for the LADOT UBM program.
  • Coordinate logistics for tabling and in-person events, including registration and event summaries.
  • Build relationships with community-based organizations, business associations, and other community institutions in the project area.
