About The Position

Join Axon and be a Force for Good. At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other. Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter. Dedrone’s Test & Evaluation team is seeking a Part 107-certified UAV Operator to keep our drone fleet mission-ready and to execute flight operations supporting live testing, demos, and data collection. This role removes a key execution bottleneck by ensuring we consistently have a ready fleet + an available operator, enabling T&E to focus on deliberate, repeatable test execution.

Requirements

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (current/active).
  • Demonstrated hands-on capability with Group 1 UAV operations and basic fleet upkeep (airframes, batteries, payload swaps, troubleshooting).
  • Ability to perform field work, including climbing and lifting/moving equipment (e.g., up to 25 lbs).
  • Strong operational discipline: equipment tracking, readiness checks, and reliable execution under schedule pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the drone fleet: procurement support, routine maintenance, battery management/replacement, and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain readiness baselines (airframes, batteries, payloads, spares, firmware/config baselines).
  • Organize storage and enforce equipment check-in/check-out discipline for all drone gear.
  • Operate drones in support of local teams and test events (e.g., Terminal Drv, Maples Field, and other test sites).
  • Execute flight operations for tests, demos, and data collection in coordination with T&E plans and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate flight activities with contractors/partners as required (e.g., event support or verification flights).
  • Coordinate contractor pilots when there are geo/time conflicts or when multiple drones are needed simultaneously.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for Part 107 operational guidance—coordinate/consult/advise peers as needed.
  • Stay current on drone market capabilities and trends to inform fleet evolution and test readiness.
