About The Position

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Grounds Department is seeking a reliable and skilled Small Equipment Operator to join our swing shift snow removal team. This position focuses on event areas, stairs, and some walkways to ensure safe and accessible campus conditions throughout the winter season. Working Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM Seeking a reliable, safety-focused operator with experience using small equipment such as skid steers and plow trucks. Must be able to work overnight shifts in cold and demanding conditions. This is a temporary, swing-shift position that plays a vital role in keeping campus accessible and safe for students, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

  • HS graduation or the equivalent. Grounds shop - Must be Department of labor eligible minor.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
  • To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Applicants who now or may in the future require visa sponsorship to work in the United States are not eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Operating skid steers and plow trucks for snow and ice removal.
  • Applying sand and salt as needed.
  • Performing light equipment maintenance and safety checks.
  • Working independently in varying weather conditions.
