About The Position

Develops detailed financial and economic analysis to assist the designated business portfolio with decision support. Works closely with business leaders and Finance partners to provide financial advice and service that supports the financial management activities of the Group/portfolio. Supports the monitoring and management of financial performance against plans, forecasts, initiatives, and objectives. Generates information and insights that support key business decisions to drive value (e.g. revenue growth, cost management, resource allocation, balance sheet optimization, etc.) This role requires strong technical skills with the ability to translate reporting & KPI tracking into insights. The candidate must be comfortable working with structured & unstructured data across multiple sources. Adaptability is important in this role, taking an agile approach to developing ad hoc reporting and analysis. Supports/Leads financial planning, forecasting and performance reviews that utilize plan, forecast and actual financial information to develop annual plans and targets. Performs variance analyses, and ad-hoc forward-looking analyses to improve understanding of business drivers as well as opportunities to improve performance for product improvement, profit improvement, financial impact of initiatives/strategic business decisions. Builds interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders. Integrates information from multiple sources (e.g. financial and operational systems) to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting. Determines the financial impact of initiatives/ strategic business decisions and incorporate the impacts into future financial forecasts/plans. Assesses reasonableness of business cases and performs due diligence during investment reviews and approvals processes. Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide financial insights and recommendations. Employs systems (e.g., customized exception reports, pipeline reports etc.) to manage information. Acts as a trusted financial advisor to assigned business/group by Providing specialized consulting, analytical and technical support. Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives. Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business. Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making e.g. economics, treasury, competitor information. Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

Requirements

  • Between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced Excel user.
  • Proficient/able to learn direct querying (e.g. SQL).
  • Data driven decision making and influencing - In-depth.
  • Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills - In-depth.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to financial data systems a plus (e.g. Essbase/SmartView, S4).
  • Experience or interest in Wealth Management, Banking & related financial drivers.
