About The Position

The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking Field Representatives to conduct interviews for surveys and census data collection in Cherokee County, NC. This position allows for remote work, with the home serving as the duty station. Candidates will be responsible for traveling within their county to conduct interviews, primarily in person, and will need to maintain accurate records of their work activities.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned county.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews primarily in person (door to door) and may conduct phone interviews as needed.
• Collect survey or census data within an assigned geographic area.
• Communicate effectively with respondents, supervisors, and other relevant parties.
• Understand survey materials to explain the purpose of surveys and accurately ask questions as worded on the questionnaire.
• Enter accurate and complete information into a laptop computer or onto survey forms.
• Maintain personal payroll records reflecting hours worked, miles driven, and reimbursements for travel and communications.
• Complete and attend necessary training, either in-person or online.
