The position is for a Union U.C.&M Mechanic 1/C, with apprentices acceptable. The role involves performing less complicated construction and maintenance work on dead conductors, structures, and equipment under directive supervision. The mechanic will assist 1st Class and 2nd Class U.C.&M Men in more involved work and is expected to acquire pole climbing skills necessary for U.C.&M. work. The position also includes working on energized conductors, structures, and equipment not exceeding 600 volts under close supervision. Additional responsibilities may include driving trucks, operating winches, cleaning parts, oiling, taping, soldering, minor servicing of electrical equipment, and installing or disconnecting electric meters and services. The mechanic must acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for advancement to U.C.&M. Man 2nd Class, which will be determined by an appropriate test.
