The Type Test Engineer will perform EMI (electromagnetic immunity) tests according to well-known standards and analyze, document and report results. Provide guidance to project leaders and engineers regarding test and design constraints to ensure the product satisfies the various national and international regulations. Develop and perform functional verification testing to verify product specification. Develop, verify, and document test systems and configurations required to represent the automation system and its intended environment. Develop and perform validation strategies to ensure correct test equipment operation. Participate and contribute to the accreditation requirements (ISO/IEC 17025) and continuous process improvements supporting the quality management system. Participate and contribute to both internal and external audits of the quality management system. Perform and develop quality activities necessary to ensure the validity of test results. Review technical publications and operating instructions to ensure compliance for the intended operating environment. Approximately 5% domestic or international travel. Hybrid work permitted.

  • Bachelor’s in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in the job offered, as a Test Engineer, or a related role.
  • Experience in hardware development or testing in an Engineering or Laboratory environment.
  • Proficient use of Siemens’ industrial automation products and processes.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as PROFINET/PROFIBUS.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for laboratory accreditation.
  • Ability to improve existing processes and approaches.
  • Proficient operation of spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies.
  • Knowledge of national and international standards for approval markings.
  • Proficient knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility standards and electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel internally and externally.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience and skills can be gained pre- or post- Bachelor’s degree.
