Job SummaryIn this role, you will play an important part in our world-leading ground handling operation at the SFB Airport. With a focus on safety and attention to detail, you will be responsible for completing various aspects of ramp service functions, including loading and unloading baggage and cargo, aircraft marshaling, and water servicing.
This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.Part-TimeCompensation Rate: $16.00 per hour.City & Airport: Sanford, Florida - SFB Sanford International Airport

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs or more)
• Valid Driver's license, must be maintained throughout employment in this role
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
• Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
• Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols
• Fluently read, write, and speak the English language

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in aviation or ground handling operations
• Familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout
• Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in the airport environment
• Experience operating ground support equipment, such as tugs, belt loaders, and forklifts
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills for completing paperwork and using scheduling systems
• Strong customer service orientation and a positive attitude toward passenger interactions

Responsibilities

• Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure.
• Load and unload cargo/baggage on and off aircraft.
• Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts to pick up and deliver cargo/bags between the terminal, warehouse, and aircraft.
• Sort and load baggage.
• Perform ground service functions, such as connecting/removing ground power, ground start units, and water service.
• Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking, and related guide man functions.
• Maintain a secure work environment.
