About The Position

Bambini Montessori Academy provides a nurturing, hands-on learning environment for children ages infant through 5 years old, following the Montessori philosophy and meeting Maryland's developmental needs and licensing standards. The academy is seeking passionate professionals who are enthusiastic, caring, and love learning, to make a difference in children's lives. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing age-appropriate academic and values curricula in a loving and safe environment. They use regular observations and assessments to individualize learning experiences, manage the classroom including preparing supplies, cleaning, transitions, and supervision, and coordinate with the teaching team for student instruction and social interactions. The Teacher also fosters a positive parent partnership and serves as a resource to parents.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred).
  • Completion of the 90-hour Preschool Teacher Certification (45-hour Child Growth & Development + 45-hour Preschool Curriculum course) approved by the MSDE Office of Child Care
  • 9-hour Communication Course (approved by MSDE).
  • Basic Health and Safety Training (approved by MSDE).
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Maryland State background check and fingerprint clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an early childhood or Montessori setting preferred.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, or MACTE accredited).
  • Two or more years of teaching experience in a licensed early childhood program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that align with Maryland Early Learning Standards and Montessori principles.
  • Ensure classroom environment meets MSDE and OCC safety and compliance standards.
  • Observe and document each child’s growth and development.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Maintain open, professional communication with families regarding children’s progress.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers and administrators to support the overall success of the classroom.
  • Attend required staff meetings, professional development trainings, and workshops.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and progress records.
