About The Position
The Flood Planning Data Department supports the regional and state flood planning programs at the Texas Water Development Board. We are looking for an analyst to join our team who is motivated by our mission, can learn quickly, and will function well as part of our team. Performs complex (journey-level) data and GIS analysis and research. Work involves creation, modification, and evaluation of spatial data using ArcGIS, Excel, Python, and other tools. Assists with quality checks of department data and region submissions. Evaluates new data sources. Produces statistics and maps and contributes to process creation and documentation. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Additionally, the Data Analyst IV classification oversees the development, analysis, and summary of regional and state flood planning data sets and their associated computer applications. Develops, implements and monitors specialized projects pertaining to regional and state flood planning. Trains staff. Works under moderate to general supervision, with limited to moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Manager of the Flood Data Department within the Flood Planning Division.
