About The Position

The Tutor for Title 1 Immigrant students at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is responsible for providing supplemental instructional support to immigrant students during the school day. This role involves small group instruction under the guidance of the ESL teacher, fostering strong relationships with students and parents to ensure academic success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Entry-level position requiring less than 1 year of experience.
• Strong communication skills in English and Math.

Responsibilities

• Provide English language development (ESL) and academic tutorial services consistent with WiDA English Language Development standards.
• Conduct tutoring sessions at the direction of the ESL Teacher of record.
• Regularly confer with ESL and content area teachers regarding the individual needs of assigned students.
• Assist the classroom teacher in supporting the academic development of immigrant students.
• Keep parents and appropriate school personnel informed of students' progress.
• Provide extra academic tutoring services to help students improve literacy in their native language or in other identified areas of academic need such as math skills.
• Offer orientation to American high schools for immigrant youth.
• Perform related duties as required.
