About The Position

The Tutor, Professional, TRIO Veteran Upward Bound position is a grant-funded role focused on providing tutoring services to veterans and at-risk students. The tutor will assist students who have skill deficiencies in math, science, reading, and writing, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed academically. The position requires a strong understanding of high school and college-level subjects, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and build confidence in students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in tutoring.
• Working knowledge of high school and college level math and tutoring strategies.
• Knowledge of modern writing practices, developmental writing and composition curriculum standards, and writing conventions.
• Working knowledge of college level science and tutoring strategies.
• Verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft software.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to relate to veterans at various skill levels.
• Ability to be flexible.
• Ability to speak in public.
• Ability to put veterans at ease and build their confidence.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and tutoring service to students who have skill deficiencies in math, science, reading, and/or writing.
