About The Position
Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Tutor Mentor, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. Tutor Mentor is a Part-time regular position which has the overall responsibility of providing high quality tutoring services to participants in the areas of mathematics, science, social studies, English, and language arts. All tutor/mentors must perform dual role as a tutor and mentor and must be available to work during school hours, after school, Saturdays and during the summer program. Tutor/Mentor’s must assist teachers in enhancing the academic performance of participants through one-on-one tutoring in small groups. All tutor/mentors are required to complete and submit daily tutorial documentation logs to track student progress; and are required to attend mandatory training/orientation meetings. Tutor/Mentors must be willing to assist staff with supervising students and meet rigorous scheduled program activities. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.
Requirements
- Must have a 3.0 or above grade point average with junior or senior class status.
- Must have and “A” or “B” in the tutoring subject area.
Nice To Haves
- Tutorial experience is preferred.
