Primary Responsibility Under the supervision of designated supervisor, the Tutor II role provides academic support and guidance to students, helping them understand course materials, improve study skills and achieve their academic goals. This position provides personalized academic support to students in both individual and group settings. Fostering a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel engaged and comfortable to ask questions and seek help. This role needs to be able to recognize and cater to diverse learners and preferences. Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the area of tutoring or in the subject area or closely related area plus one year related work experience; or, an Associate’s Degree and three years related work experience, or a High School Diploma/GED and five years related work experience or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position. Experience in the field: Teaching/tutoring experience, particularly in post-secondary courses, preferred. Other relevant work experience that demonstrates either knowledge of the content or the ability to work with students or the ability to communicate ideas effectively. Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: Excellent interpersonal communication skills required. Basic computer literacy. Ability to interact with a diverse student population. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship. The hiring pay rate is $23.94 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday. This is a grant funded position and continued employment the position is contingent on continued grant funding. Position anticipated to close on February 12, 2025 or until filled.
