About The Position

The Professional Chemistry Tutor position at Jefferson University – East Falls Campus is a part-time, 6-8 hour per week position. The Academic Success Center hires professional tutors in various subjects (non-writing) on a rolling basis depending on student demand. A Professional Tutor will have set weekly hours in which they are available for one-on-one appointments and/or group sessions with students during the fall and spring semesters. A Chemistry Professional Tutor should have knowledge of course materials taught at Jefferson University – East Fall Campus and be an expert in the area they wish to tutor.

Requirements

  • MS or higher in Chemistry/Biochemistry and experience in Organic
  • 2 years Tutoring and teaching experience preferred
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to break down complex materials with concrete strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Tutor students one-on-one in a specific content area of expertise and assist students with developing better academic success skills.
  • Conduct group review sessions and group tutoring (if needed) prior to an exam and/or create workshops that are relevant to the content area being tutored.
  • Log hours in a payroll system (My Time) and use an online tutoring scheduling/early alert system (Starfish) to track appointments and record tutoring outcome notes.
