About The Position

To provide temporary assistance as needed. Positions are for positions are for tutors that will be on high school campuses (2X) and on the Highland Campus (1X).

Requirements

  • Must possess required knowledge of Advanced Manufacturing courses and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Tutoring techniques, standards, and supplemental learning materials for individual and group tutoring.
  • Learning Lab services.
  • Processes and resources for organizing and leading study groups.
  • Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact, patience, and diplomacy.
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Understanding and following instructions precisely.
  • Providing quality tutorial services to individuals and groups.
  • Providing feedback regarding student performance and/or progress.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals from multicultural backgrounds, including students, fellow tutors, faculty and staff.
  • Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes good relations with students, co-workers, and staff.
  • Flexibility to move between different tasks during the workday as different needs arise.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications.
  • For all Tutor levels: one semester related work experience.
  • Degree or substantial undergraduate coursework in the discipline and demonstrated competence in the subjects that will be tutored.

  • Tutor I: Some college course work in the discipline.
  • Tutor I: Associate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Tutors students on Adv. Mfg. course content to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Provides assistance to students on a one-on-one or group basis in the subject discipline, college study skills, and assist with Learning Lab resources.
  • Support instructors as a teacher's aid during regularly scheduled classes, as requested.
  • Organizes supplemental learning materials.
  • Provides feedback to students and faculty on student progress.
  • May assist with research, development, delivery, and evaluation of lab material and specialized tutoring services and resources for tutorial activities.
  • May lead study groups in the subject matter review.
  • Tutoring of students is priority 1.
  • When there are not students available for tutoring, tutors will assist faculty and staff with other tasks as needed.
  • Those tasks can include but are not limited to - Minor equipment maintenance and repair: Equipment inventory, stocking and delivery to support courses and labs; Assisting IT with lab computer maintenance; Lab content development and improvement; Other Office and Lab support activities as requested by faculty and staff.
