About The Position

Job Summary The Turret Punch Press Setup / Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC turret punch press machines to produce high-quality sheet metal components in a safe and efficient manner. This role requires strong technical knowledge of turret punch tooling, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to independently manage machine setups while meeting production and quality requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform complete setup of CNC turret punch press machines, including tooling selection, installation, alignment, and tool condition verification Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs as required for material type, thickness, and part specifications Operate turret punch press equipment to produce sheet metal parts per work instructions and production schedules Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, routings, and work orders Conduct first-piece inspections and ongoing in-process checks using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring tools Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality, accuracy, and efficiency Identify and troubleshoot tooling, programming, material, or machine-related issues and escalate when necessary Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure machines and tooling are properly maintained and stored Accurately record production data, scrap, downtime, and material usage in the manufacturing system Follow all safety policies, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding requirements Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and quality initiatives Assist in training or mentoring operators and supporting cross-functional teams as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC turret punch press machines
  • Experience with common turret punch brands such as Amada, Trumpf, Murata, or equivalent preferred
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel)
  • Ability to read blueprints and working knowledge of GD&T
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments
  • Basic computer skills for CNC controls and production tracking systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple setups and prioritize work efficiently
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance
  • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling of materials
