Our services span from initial planning and investment, through start-up and operations. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF will be built by 2027 and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times, and may require employees to work overtime, weekends, and/or nightshift when a business need arises. Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site.

Requirements

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD and/or commercial nuclear construction projects.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and the related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Candidates should be self-starters, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
