The Special Education Program Director at Brighton High School will play a crucial role in leading and enhancing the special education programs within the school. This position is vital for ensuring compliance with Chapter 28 regulatory responsibilities, which are essential for maintaining adherence to state and federal regulations as well as court orders. The Program Director will work closely with the school's leadership to improve the quality of instruction for all students with disabilities, thereby contributing to a rigorous academic environment that meets the diverse needs of all learners. In this role, the Program Director will be responsible for the coordination and development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students requiring Chapter 28 services. This includes overseeing testing, running meetings, and creating and implementing 504s and 688s. The Director will also develop and implement integrative and inclusive programs, collaborating with school leadership to evaluate their effectiveness in delivering quality services to students. A significant aspect of this role involves supporting staff members through professional development opportunities, ensuring that differentiated instruction is effectively utilized in the classroom. The Program Director will model best practices in teaching, co-teach, and observe classes to provide constructive feedback to teachers. This position also entails working with families to enhance their engagement in their child's educational experience, maintaining open lines of communication among students, parents, and staff involved in special education programs. The Director will support initiatives aimed at improving attendance, homework completion, and overall classroom behavior, while also ensuring consistent implementation of school-based rules and the Code of Conduct. Additionally, the Program Director will take on other responsibilities as designated by the Headmaster, contributing to the overall culture of the school as an agent of change committed to progressive educational reform.
