Turfgrass Research Intern
About The Position
Texas A&M AgriLife is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive agriculture program, bringing together a college and four state agencies within The Texas A&M University System. Interns will assist with research projects related to turfgrass cultivar evaluation, turfgrass management, soil amendment research, irrigation and water management studies, herbicide evaluation trials, and ecosystem services of urban lawns and alternative turf species.
Requirements
- B.S. degree (completed or in progress) in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, turfgrass science, or a related field.
- Willing to work up to 20 hours per week.
- Basic knowledge of turfgrass management practices.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Nice To Haves
- Operation and maintenance of turfgrass equipment (e.g., reel mowers, aerifiers, verticutters, sod harvesters)
- Installation or maintenance of irrigation systems
Responsibilities
- Field maintenance of turfgrass research plots
- Mowing and general turfgrass management
- Data collection and evaluation of field trials
- Assisting with greenhouse and laboratory activities as needed
