About The Position

The Turf Extrusion Tester is responsible for performing tests on the physical properties of turf yarn to ensure that all yarn products meet quality standards. This role involves auditing schedules, pulling samples for testing, documenting non-conformances, and communicating results to production personnel. The tester must adhere to safety protocols and participate in quality assurance processes while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry, climb stairs/ladders, and reach as required.
  • Must be able to lift packages weighing up to twelve (12) pounds.
  • Must possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must make an acceptable score on the Color Test.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in quality control or testing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with yarn production processes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Audit schedules and verify information at the beginning of the shift.
  • Pull samples of yarn for specified tests according to the sampling cycle.
  • Perform testing based on instructions from yarn technical and turf process engineer.
  • Identify and document all non-conformances and follow SMS procedures.
  • Perform physical properties tests and rechecks on Turf Extrusion lines.
  • Ensure all packages brought to the lab for testing are properly identified.
  • Record all lot information, test results, and communicate with production personnel.
  • Audit yarns tested for color consistency, labeling, and quality problems.
  • Communicate testing status and issues with other shifts.
  • Perform tests on standard packages and complete test sheets.
  • Assist in routine visual color checks as requested.
  • Document and communicate results of special tests to appropriate personnel.
  • Initiate the on Hold procedure for non-conforming products.
  • Troubleshoot lab equipment and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Pull suspect packages from bales and repackage quality yarn correctly.
  • Maintain housekeeping for the lab area and comply with SMS procedures.
  • Participate in the Quality P.R.I.D.E. Process and adhere to safety methods.
