About The Position

The Turbine Operator Training Apprentice position is a full-time role under the Power Generation department. The apprentice will undergo both classroom and hands-on training to become proficient in operating and maintaining gas turbine packages and related equipment. The role requires passing a written examination, completing logs, and demonstrating proficiency in stand-alone operation and maintenance. The position involves significant travel, with a work schedule of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, and training during the first 9 weeks is Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

• Successfully pass all applicable general pre-employment testing.
• Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Daily in-person, predictable attendance.
• Proficient in the spoken English language.
• Technical Certification or Degree.
• High School Diploma or GED accepted with applicable experience.
• Instrumentation and/or electrical knowledge or experience is a plus.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to read electrical/controls drawings.
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
• Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
• Fundamental knowledge of equipment controls and logic.

Responsibilities

• Attend all required training sessions punctually and actively participate.
• Learn to operate and maintain gas turbine packages and related equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in operational areas.
• Learn troubleshooting oversight on gas turbines and human-machine interfaces.
• Understand the proper utilization and application of available software.
• Conduct work in accordance with safety rules and standard operating procedures.
• Evaluate the operational readiness of gas turbines and related equipment.
• Aid in implementing more efficient working tasks.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of gas turbine packages.
• Perform external visual checks of equipment, including walkaround inspections.
• Complete all required logs tied to learning objectives and processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
