Position Summary The Tundish Yard Operator is responsible for the inspection, repair, or replacement of a tundish refractory. This role operates cranes and mobile equipment, maintains a clean and safe work area, supports maintenance activities, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good, interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with refractories.
  • M365 proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Replace/install working linings and safety linings in tundishes.
  • Install all tundish refractory furniture, temp probes, stopper rod, stopper rod mechanism, chop gate, SEN and gate.
  • Assist in refractory ladle/EAF installations as needed/scheduled by the refractory team leader.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and stocked work area.
  • Utilize established documentation systems (logs, emails, paperwork, etc.) to communicate all relevant information to the refractory and management team.
  • Work closely with the refractory team leader and shift coordinator to minimize down time and improve equipment reliability.
  • Participating in improvement and organization projects.
  • Ensure safe operation of tundishes and participate in SSAB safety programs, audits and reviews.
  • Complete all training within designated timeframes and attend all required meetings.
  • Understand and support the company’s goals and values and adhere to company, department, safety, quality, environmental, and ethics policies and procedures.
