Position Summary The Tundish Yard Operator is responsible for the inspection, repair, or replacement of a tundish refractory. This role operates cranes and mobile equipment, maintains a clean and safe work area, supports maintenance activities, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical aptitude.
Basic computer skills.
Good, interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with refractories.
M365 proficiency.

Responsibilities

Replace/install working linings and safety linings in tundishes.
Install all tundish refractory furniture, temp probes, stopper rod, stopper rod mechanism, chop gate, SEN and gate.
Assist in refractory ladle/EAF installations as needed/scheduled by the refractory team leader.
Maintain a clean, organized and stocked work area.
Utilize established documentation systems (logs, emails, paperwork, etc.) to communicate all relevant information to the refractory and management team.
Work closely with the refractory team leader and shift coordinator to minimize down time and improve equipment reliability.
Participating in improvement and organization projects.
Ensure safe operation of tundishes and participate in SSAB safety programs, audits and reviews.
Complete all training within designated timeframes and attend all required meetings.
