About The Position

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced TB nurse consultant to join the TB program and represent the department in the northern region of the state. This individual will have TB case management experience and be willing to support TB programming within the region including travel for education and monitoring.

Requirements

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in nursing.
Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Requires three (3) years of experience in TB case management.
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Three (3) years of experience in TB case management.
Two (2) years of experience in tuberculosis case management system, health care delivery systems, and/or managed care programs.
Two (2) years of experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating health care systems.
Two (2) years of experience with exercising judgment and discretion on developing, implementing, and interpreting programmatic departmental policies and procedures.
Three (3) years of experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
One (1) year of experience presenting training materials and facilitating meetings.

Responsibilities

Travels within the northern Tuberculosis (TB) region to provide TB case management and consultation to health care professionals.
Plans, coordinates, and implements training programs for professional and non-professional staff involved in TB control and management.
Plans, directs and coordinates the implementation of program activities.
Monitors local agencies for adherence to IDPH promulgated standards for local health departments.
Functions as the program liaison to health providers documented as being out of compliance with recommended diagnostic, therapeutic, or patient management procedures.
Provides technical epidemiologic assistance to local TB personnel with problem situations such as epidemiologic investigations of problem patients.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
