About The Position

Heidtman Tubular Products, a Heidtman Steel company, is looking for a 3rd shift (10:30 PM - 7:00 AM) Production Supervisor for our Tube Mill operations at our Erie, MI facility. Training for this position will be during 1st shift hours. The Tube Mill Supervisor is responsible for overseeing plant operations to meet business objectives. You will be accountable for all aspects of plant performance and will ensure that objectives are obtained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with the Quality requirements for products. You will work hand in hand with other supervisors and shop floor employees to assist in meeting our production requirements. This is a “Hands-on” job that will require working alongside your employees.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of having strong Leadership Skills
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a production environment
  • Prior experience in the steel industry (required); Tube Mill experience (preferred)
  • Work in a fast paced environment and work overtime as needed
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • Tube Mill experience (preferred)
  • Quality audit experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Train and develop all employees related to the Tube Mill
  • Continuous improvement of operations and employees
  • Follow production schedules
  • Create Production Schedules as necessary
  • Supervise Changeovers
  • Fill out all operating reports and quality reports as required – maintains reports
  • Assist in mill changeovers as necessary
  • Communicates any irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance for correction
  • Assist maintenance in making repairs
  • Active participation is required during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace
  • Manage employee timesheets, training records, disciplinary write-ups, etc. with assistance from HR
  • Ensure mills are staffed for efficiency i.e. finding coverage for vacations and call-offs and/or participating in interviews
  • Other duties as assigned
