About The Position

The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at North Carolina State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Plant Evolutionary Biology for a 9-month, tenure-track position. This role focuses on research and teaching, emphasizing innovative approaches to understanding the molecular mechanisms of plant evolution and adaptation. The successful candidate will develop a robust, extramurally-funded research program and teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to plant evolution.

Requirements

  • PhD in plant biology, evolutionary biology, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in plant evolution with a record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a productive, extramurally-funded research program in plant evolutionary biology.
  • Teach 1-2 courses per year, potentially including graduate and undergraduate courses in Plant Evolution.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research.
  • Contribute to existing programs in the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology and the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative.
  • Engage in outreach and service to the academic community.
