About The Position

Underwriting: · Review terms and conditions of new and renewal accounts by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing account information in conjunction with proper risk assessment in line with risk appetite · Develop and demonstrate specific line of business knowledge and expertise. Continually monitor L.O.B. trends and opportunities. · Pro-actively market to appropriate carriers, wholesalers and cedants, participate in customer account renewal meetings and underwriting audits; and provide top quality customer service. · Develop internal pricing and modeling tools to establish appropriate pricing options on accounts in various structures and lines of business · Negotiate competently with carriers and clients, providing constructive feedback and offering alternative risk solutions when needed · Make presentations to senior management on larger accounts articulating thought processes in a clear and cohesive manner · Execute strategic growth plans aligned with premium and profitability objectives, as well as service excellence · Effectively communicate with Account Management, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, and Accounting on issues that involve pricing, contract wording, premium & loss bookings and claims, to ensure profitability of accounts and compliance with corporate guidelines. Qualifications: · Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Science degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Liberal Arts, Business, Management, Finance or related fields from an accredited college/university · 8-10- years’ experience as an Insurance Underwriter with concentration on the Casualty lines of business and large accounts loss sensitive program development and 3 years commercial insurance experience with exposure to large accounts and loss sensitive programs; Experience in reinsurance placement and negotiations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. · Broker's license required. CPCU, ARM, ARe, CPCU or similar insurance designation preferred. · Experience in the rating and analysis of pro rata and excess of loss business · Knowledge of Insurance Policies and/or Reinsurance contracts and associated market practices · Microsoft Office suite of programs and typical brokerage or RMIS systems · Math aptitude and outstanding PC skills · Excellent understanding of Insurance and Reinsurance markets, placement structures and underwriting approaches · Motivated self-starter able to work with minimal supervision, set daily priorities and juggle multiple clients or tasks. · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. · Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. · Strong written and oral communication skills. · Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work with staff at all levels as well as clients, insurance carriers, regulatory agencies, and vendors. · Ability to travel. · Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requirements
