As TSC Police Officer - SRO working various work hours - 24-hour shift coverage, you will play a key roll in patrolling campus buildings and grounds while enforcing law, rules, and regulations on campus. The TSC Police Officer - SRO provides escort services on campus, relieves or substitutes for TSC Police Dispatchers, and locks and unlock doors. Provides general information; public relations; traffic assistance (directs traffic, attends to traffic crashes, assists with parking problems); writes thorough and complete reports on investigations, complaints, student conduct violations, and security issues using proper grammar and logical sentence construction. Performs security and safety duties at off-campus facilities that are owned, operated, or utilized by the College. The TSC Police Officer - SRO also performs a wide variety of law enforcement activities specifically related to the school environment during the school year (6th-8th grade). Tasks are primarily service oriented and include working with and mentoring students, disseminating information, arbitrating disputes, and helping through referrals, property protection, crime prevention, investigative, and other public safety services. Candidate performs duties in accordance with Florida State Statutes and established departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. The candidate must be able to work without close supervision and must be able to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Work is under the general supervision of a sergeant. The candidate must be a State of Florida certified law enforcement officer and be certified as a School Resource Officer (SRO), or willing to attend the training to become certified.
