About The Position

Oversee all operations of the SBDC, including strategic planning, team leadership, and alignment with federal and state SBDC goals. Note: This is a full-time, grant- funded position with continued employment contingent on annual funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field.
  • Ten years of experience in business ownership or operations at a senior level.
  • Certification as a “Certified Business Counselor” through the TSBDC network.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Director of the TSBDC at RSCC oversees the operations, budget, and strategy for the TSBDC at RSCC in compliance with the TSBDC MTSU Annual Contract and the TSBDC Network Strategic Plan.
  • The Director is responsible for delivering TSBDC programs to individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the TSBDC and RSCC service area which covers 7 counties in rural eastern Tennessee.
  • The Director participates in and oversees the public outreach of the office and supports the host institution (RSCC) through direct and indirect involvement in RSCC programs such as conferences, special programs, entrepreneurship programs, leading Co.Starters sessions, etc., and functioning as a business consulting resource during experiential learning classes.
  • The Director is expected to be proficient in the use of software that pertains to the duties of the position, such as TSBDC client management software (CIC), college purchasing and administrative software, marketing and client development applications (Canva, Constant Contact, MS Office, etc.).
  • The Director is required to travel throughout the service area and is responsible for establishing relationships with stakeholders in the service area and maintaining existing relationships with stakeholders in the service area.
  • The Director is responsible for ensuring a positive and impactful presence from the TSBDC and RSCC in business communities throughout the territory and performing other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • This position is responsible for developing and managing an annual budget that includes federal, match, in-kind, indirect, and program income dollars.
