About The Position

The Assistant Facility Specialist - Grounds is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance and integrity of the Hillsborough County Tournament Sportsplex grounds and landscaping. This role involves performing various landscaping duties, assisting in facility maintenance, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment for staff and guests.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of previous experience in grounds/landscaping maintenance preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate hand tools and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of horticulture maintenance, irrigation maintenance, and chemical application techniques.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate commercial landscaping equipment.
• Experience with HVAC and carpentry work.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscaping duties including planting, fertilizing, trimming, and mowing.
• Police facilities and grounds, collecting, loading, and hauling trash and debris.
• Perform repairs and maintain plumbing, irrigation, caulking, painting, brick and cement, HVAC, event support services, and carpentry work in and around the Sportsplex.
• Provide event support and custodial services as directed.
• Assist in directing the work of the Part-Time Grounds Assistants during assigned tasks.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to review facility, grounds, and equipment needs, sharing findings with departmental managers.
• Participate in meetings necessary for conducting internal and external business.
• Assist in monitoring work with operational service contractors for various maintenance tasks.
• Keep abreast of innovations and improvements in operational procedures.
• Assist in providing a safe environment free of harassment for department employees.
