Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 2-4 years of Tax/Accounting experience required.
  • 4-6 years of Tax/Accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely tax information to customers.
  • Assist in the collection of tax information necessary for proper reporting of tax information to customers and to federal and state authorities.
  • Act as a liaison between Associated colleagues and tax preparer.
  • Assist Trust Tax team members to file all federal and state income tax returns, pay tax balances due, collect tax refunds and process federal and state estimated tax payments in a timely manner.
  • Provide superior service to our internal and external customers.
  • Courteously and professionally respond to requests for information on tax matters.
  • Educate and train new hires on trust tax software.
  • Review daily transaction reports of selected transactions to check accuracy.
  • Review and update tax codes used to process transactions, as needed.
  • Contact Trust Operations, Relationship Managers or Administrative staff if additional information is needed.
  • Monitor and track tax matters that require attention before completion of an account’s tax return.
  • Review written correspondence from federal and state tax authorities related to customer accounts.
  • Research issues and respond by writing a letter to the Tax Authority.
  • Maintain record of all tax notices and review pending tax notices monthly.
  • Monitor and track the timely filing of tax returns to federal and state tax authorities.
  • Assemble and mail returns to federal and state tax authorities including handling 1099s, schedule K-1s, etc.
  • Prepare and submit request for Prompt Assessments to IRS for account closings.
  • Keep informed of new developments, policies and laws concerning fiduciary and estate taxation.
  • Coordinate payment of federal and state fiduciary taxes.
  • Review and update list of foreign account beneficiaries.
  • Prepare monthly report of sales and purchases of limited partnership units.
  • Review and match 1099s, K-1s and related tax information received from outside sources.
