About The Position

The Trust & Estates Paralegal researches Pennsylvania estate planning, trust, estate and probate law, drafts legal documents including estate planning documents, handles trust and estate administration, provides client consultations and manages administrative tasks on behalf of the supervising attorney. The Trust & Estates Paralegal will also draft and file accountings as well as death and fiduciary tax returns.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and effective time management
  • Self-motivated, flexible, with exceptional follow-through skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Capable of independently managing multiple projects
  • 5+ years of experience working as a trust and estate paralegal with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED – Bachelors degree or paralegal certificate preferred
  • Experience in Pennsylvania probate administration
  • Knowledge of estate planning documents and concepts
  • Must know how to prepare gift tax, estate tax, and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Self-motivated, flexible, with exceptional follow-through skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OneSource Estate and Trust, and CCH ProSystems platform a plus
  • Experience in local probate administration and with professional service vendors helpful

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate probate court filings and recordings, including research and familiarity with local rules and probate court
  • Prepare probate administration paperwork, including administration accounts, court petitions, orders, deeds, certifications, etc.
  • Coordinate post-death non-probate administration
  • Communicate with clients and professional advisors relating to routine acts of estate administration
  • Prepare Gift Tax, Estate Tax, and Fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Input financial data to prepare and file accountings
  • Work with clients’ financial advisors on proper titling of accounts.
  • Prepare basic Estate Planning documents.
  • Manage Estate Planning process through document signings.
