About The Position

The primary responsibility of this position is to build trusses to cutting bill specifications. General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Truss Builder must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all Company employees. Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting up to 75 pounds will be required on a regular basis. This position requires standing eight hours at a time with continual bending and lifting. Working Conditions: The work is primarily in the plant with temperature extremes from the teens to the 90’s. Requirements

The ability to read and write and to read a ruler is required.

Nice To Haves

Wood working or construction experience helpful.
High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

Production.
Moving specified pre-cut parts to work area and placing parts in jig by hand.
Pulling plates and layout per cutting bill.
Following Truss Setup/ Team Leader’s instructions.
Hammering and pressing plates over web and chord joints.
Coordinating the need for material substitutions with the Production Manager.
Ensuring finished trusses meet all quality specifications (straight chords, proper lateral bracing and bearing location tags, no gaps at joints greater than 1/8”, etc.).
Attaching pink bracing instructions under peak plate (one per stack).
Sending truss through finish press.
Safety.
Complying with all Company safety policies and procedures.
Maintaining a clean, safe work area at all times.
Ensuring the safety equipment is functioning properly before operating any production equipment.
Reporting all unsafe actions and equipment to the supervisor promptly.
