About The Position

The Trucking Supervisor is responsible for all activities associated with the company owned commercial fleet transporting raw milk, shell eggs, produce, and finished goods. This role creates a results-oriented culture focused on safety and compliance while implementing tactics to increase overall efficiency. This position’s direct reports include all Milk Truck Drivers. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing fleet and transportation operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, contracts and negotiations required.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT, FMCSA and Clearinghouse regulations required.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations required.
  • Tank Inspections/Grading
  • Track all applicable records/certifications/licenses for drivers to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills while working under pressure and maintaining deadlines required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams including fostering teamwork while developing effective interpersonal collaboration.
  • Ability to effectively coach, guide and develop team members required.
  • High level of success effectively coaching and developing team members required.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly express ideas in a concise and professional manner.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams required, experience in fleet optimization software preferred.
  • High Capacity for stress in fast-paced service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends as needed.
  • Must possess and maintain Class A CDL, FedMed card, State of Wisconsin Bulk Milk Weigher and Sampler License.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance, ability to push/pull objects up to 2,500 pounds using material handling equipment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field preferred.
  • Experience in fleet optimization software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold all safety, compliance, and transportation regulations to meet DOT and OSHA requirements.
  • Manage weekly/monthly scheduling for drivers and equipment to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
  • Work closely with the Safety department to roll out and maintain all required programs.
  • Assist the Pools Operations teams with route development and changes.
  • Innovate and implement change to support safety, reduce costs, lead-time reductions and technology enhancements.
  • Communicate performance expectations and hold staff accountable by providing timely feedback and coaching as needed and conducting driver ride alongs on a biannual basis.
  • Perform milk tank inspections and ensure proper certifications are up to date.
  • Provide back-up coverage for route drivers as needed.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Travel as required to industry events, vendors, or regional CROPP events as needed.
  • Lead weekly team meetings and quarterly department events.
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with record keeping requirements including state and federal taxes, vehicle and driver licensing (Commercial Driving as well as Weighing and Measuring), drug & alcohol testing, medical certification, vehicle maintenance and inspection records, invoices, Bills of Lading, milk tickets and other related documents.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining necessary fleet capacity to meet the current and future needs of the business.
  • Routinely report on monthly financial results of fleet operations and provide analysis for improvement opportunities and problem solving.
  • Assist with developing and managing annual operating budgets and capital plans as well as managing contracts, rates, and service schedules for fleet operations through effective allocation and management of resources.
  • Participate in negotiating the purchase of equipment such as trucks, trailers, and parts.
  • Ensures operational practices are compliant with Federal, State, and Local laws relating to transportation of goods including DOT, OSHA, FMCSR and PMO.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
