About The Position

Responsible for washing and disinfecting of tractors and trailers used to haul livestock through implementation of established production procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be minimum of 18 years old.

  • Must display a professional image through verbal communication and actions.
  • Class A CDL (required for wean coverage).

Responsibilities

  • Lead power washing staff, actively participating in truck washing as lead washer and coordinating other wash staff’s activities.
  • Manage staffing and work schedules, including absences due to vacations, illness, etc.
  • Model, teach, and reinforce proper washing practices and general Bio-security, including basic truck washing duties, truck parking, truck wash security, job safety, recordkeeping, and environmental/waste management issues.
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings; oversee staff activities.
  • Perform problem solving, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action; ensure accurate and timely documentation and submission of related paperwork.
  • Teach, model, and reinforce company values, business guidelines and procedures, desired work behaviors, and job safety practices.
  • Maintain a safe work environment; hold washing staff accountable to safe work practices.
  • Work with Human Resources to interview and select washing staff, train/develop staff.
  • Orient washing staff to their work-site and job, complete applicable training/paperwork.
  • Support staff by teaching necessary skills, evaluating job performance, and directing and coaching on improving job performance.
  • Hold truck washers accountable for their performance to established wash standards.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of bio-security rules and ensure compliance with all bio-security standards involving the truck wash.
  • Ensure proper sequencing of truck washes based on wash schedule and bio-security rules.
  • Manage work schedules per bio-security rules and to achieve best cost.
  • Monitor the truck washing system, identify operational problems.
  • Keep appropriate people informed of situations, problems, and concerns.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on facility and equipment.
  • Perform timely and accurate data collection.
  • Monitor proper functioning of machinery and equipment, including electrical, natural gas, water systems, monitoring system, power washers, tools, laundry machines, septic tanks, water lines, safety signs, and office equipment.
  • Purchase necessary operating supplies for truck wash via purchasing system.
  • Keep supervisor informed and updated.
  • Attend staff meetings as requested.
  • Assist HR/Supervisor with personnel issues such as payroll, benefits, and work comp.
  • Conduct/participate in annual performance appraisal and job description updates.
  • Abide by Passel Vehicle Use Policy for company vehicle use.
  • Ensure safe/legal operation and proper maintenance of company vehicle.
  • Provide wean coverage for drivers on vacation or sick based on biosecurity, including long haul drivers based on needs.
  • Undergo training on pig handling, loading and offloading process, and follow all DOT rules and regulations.
