About The Position

Under the supervision of the Department Foreman or Manager, the Truck/Tractor Operator is responsible for: Operating and maintaining trucks and other machinery that are assigned to this department. Mowing of grass in the parks and on the golf courses as required. Plowing and removing snow. Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety program. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education – High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience – Minimum of two years in operating tractors, trucks, mowing equipment and other machinery used in ground maintenance.
Must hold a valid class “CDL” drivers license.
Teamster membership is required.
Knowledge and Ability – Thorough knowledge of work involved in grounds and building maintenance; ability to follow written and oral instructions: work harmoniously with Park District personnel and the using public.
Personal – Ability to work independently; work record that shows good health and dependability.
