About The Position

McKee Foods is seeking a Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team. Job responsibility includes repairs and maintains heavy duty trucks, trailers, yard tractors, cars, pickups, vans and the truck garage and equipment

Requirements

  • 6-12 months experience in a garage environment or vocational school
  • Capable of reading schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, etc.
  • Good perception, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to document and process information
  • Must have tools to support general Class 8 truck and trailer repairs
  • Capable of performing tire and wheel break down, build up, balancing and alignment
  • Knowledgeable in performing diagnostic checks on electrical systems
  • Able to diagnose fuel and lubrication system problems and make repairs
  • Capable of performing repairs and adjustments on tractor, trailer ABS and air brake systems, differentials, clutches, drive line, suspensions, transmissions and steering
  • Experience in performing trailer repairs
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting 50+ pounds on a regular basis
  • Must have or be able to obtain McKee Foods LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license within 90 days on the job (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
  • Must have or be able to obtain ASE Medium/Heavy Duty certifications based on the pay level at the time of hire as prescribed in the technician’s syllabus. The required certification must be obtained within one year of the hire date
  • Must have EPA approved air conditioning certification or obtain within 30 days on the job
  • Must be able to work overtime, or other shifts when necessary
  • Willing to travel for training, and other process improvement event

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience performing heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance or equivalent education with a Diploma in Diesel and Truck Technology from an accredited Technical School
  • General computer knowledge and skills
  • Certified Welder
  • A Class A CDL may be required based on business needs
