Job Summary As an experienced Technician at Ohio Peterbilt, you'll be at the forefront of diagnosing failures and recommending effective repair solutions. You'll perform repairs precisely and efficiently, adhering to dealership and factory standards. Under the supervision of the Service Supervisor, you’ll work primarily on Peterbilt vehicles, receiving assignments from the Service Writer/Advisor. You’ll also interact with dealership personnel, manufacturer representatives, and customers and have the opportunity to mentor less-experienced technicians. Staying informed about and complying with federal, state, and local regulations, including those from the EPA, OSHA, and DOT, is crucial. Prioritize safety in all shop and vehicle activities, report any safety issues immediately, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. If the appearance or condition of a vehicle changes, report it to department management immediately.

Requirements

  • Strong Communicator: Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Basic proficiency to aid in diagnostic and repair tasks.
  • Problem Solver: Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Team Player: Able to work collaboratively with team members and managers.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as is a vocational certificate or a diesel or truck repair degree.
  • Experience: Four to six years of related experience or training or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Licenses: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Licenses: A CDL license is recommended
  • Certifications: Preferred certifications include MX Engine, Cummins Heavy Duty, Cummins Mid-Range, Allison Transmission, or Eaton Transmission.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing failures and recommending effective repair solutions
  • Performing repairs precisely and efficiently, adhering to dealership and factory standards
  • Working primarily on Peterbilt vehicles, receiving assignments from the Service Writer/Advisor
  • Interacting with dealership personnel, manufacturer representatives, and customers
  • Mentoring less-experienced technicians
  • Staying informed about and complying with federal, state, and local regulations, including those from the EPA, OSHA, and DOT

  • Reporting any safety issues immediately
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Reporting changes in vehicle appearance or condition to department management immediately
