About The Position

The Truck Shop Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining company trucks and related equipment in a shop environment. This role includes troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and contamination control standards.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software, laptops, and precision measuring tools.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, air tools, and rigging equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete accurate documentation and follow safety procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of experience in truck or heavy equipment repair.
  • Ability to provide accurate information for quoting and job documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and man lift certification preferred.
  • MSHA certification may be required.
  • Technical training or equivalent experience in truck or heavy equipment repair preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly review work schedule, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for operations at the start of shift.
  • Determine technical service problems of engines or truck equipment and verify findings against manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare a repair plan and consult with co-workers or lead technician as needed.
  • Order or obtain necessary parts from stock room.
  • Perform diagnosis and troubleshooting, progressing in engine disassembly and reassembly with supervision as needed.
  • Install, replace, and repair engines, truck equipment, or components according to specifications.
  • Meet standard job expectations for established tasks.
  • Test parts or equipment and perform quality checks after work is complete.
  • Pressure wash parts and equipment when necessary.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and secure equipment at end of shift.
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT regulations.
  • Complete assigned training and certifications as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
