About The Position

Tyson Foods is one of the world's largest food companies, committed to providing safe, high-quality protein products while leading in sustainability and innovation. Our transportation and logistics teams are essential to keeping our operations running smoothly. We are currently seeking a dependable and motivated Mechanic to join our Truck Shop team in Harmony, NC. The Mechanic is responsible for performing repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on Tyson's fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, and related equipment. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of Tyson's transportation network and helps ensure compliance with all DOT and company safety standards. Candidates with basic mechanical knowledge who are eager to learn will be considered—Tyson is willing to provide training and development for the right individual.

Requirements

  • Some mechanical knowledge or experience working on vehicles, equipment, or engines (diesel experience a plus).
  • Willingness to learn and develop through on-the-job training.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to follow directions.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use email and maintenance systems.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to pursue one within 12 months.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on diesel trucks and trailers.
  • Document work performed accurately in Tyson's maintenance tracking system.
  • Learn and follow safety procedures, including those related to DOT, OSHA, and Tyson policies.
  • Support pre- and post-trip inspection processes by identifying and addressing mechanical issues.
  • Use hand tools, diagnostic software, and shop equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with other mechanics, drivers, dispatchers, and supervisors regarding equipment status.
  • Keep the shop area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and supplies.
  • Participate in training and mentoring programs to build technical skillsets.
