SUMMARY: Remove bedding products (mattresses and foundations) from the conveyor belt and then loads the products onto a truck using a wheeled cart.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 18 years of age with High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedures manual, and to comprehend basic instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and other personnel.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Basic math skills are needed to include addition, subtraction, and fractions.
  • Ability to lift to 250 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Continuous pushing and pulling the finished units off the wheeled cart into the trailer
  • Frequent overhead lifting, pushing, and pulling when loading finished units horizontally on top of upright units in the trailer

Responsibilities

  • Remove mattresses and foundations (up to 250 lbs. from bagging machine wheels to the loading dock.
  • The units are loaded into a semi-trailer for delivery to the retail customer, based on the delivery scheduled (units to be delivered first are loaded into the trailer last).
  • Verify tags to match the load number and that the tag is scanned
  • Place each unit in the trailer in an upright position per the shipping order.
  • Organize the load within the trailer according to the order of stops
  • As the trailer becomes full, the loader may have to lift the finished unit(s) and lay them horizontally across the upright finished unit(s) to maximize the load size.
  • Complete daily safety checks, including dock safety inspections, trailer inspections and forklift checklists.
  • Work with supervisor to develop solutions to resolve any department issues.
  • Maintain and clean assigned work area and ensure area is cleared of finished goods, packaging supplies and scrap materials and is kept orderly and clear of unnecessary items.
  • Train new associates as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by production supervisor.
