About The Position
This position is responsible for: Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or deliver merchandise to customers. Operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations. Lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc. Ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times. Assists in performing work in the family store and warehouse.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- One (1) year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.
- Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption.
- Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
- Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.
- Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operators' maintenance in accordance with established standards.
