About The Position

The CDL Program Director is responsible for providing leadership for the CDL Program, offering subject matter expertise and actively participating in curriculum development, revision, and implementation. This role includes providing face-to-face product knowledge training to Admissions or student groups, utilizing materials generated via the centralized curriculum development process. The CDL Program Director is also responsible for hiring, assigning, orienting, developing, evaluating, and recognizing instructors within the program(s) of study, and convening meetings with faculty regularly. Additionally, the CDL Program Director monitors and supports the student population within the program, plays an active role in the student advising process, and analyzes student population data to identify students who may be at risk. The position requires a maximum of 75% travel and is focused on the continuous improvement of the program, collecting data to analyze program performance and sharing feedback with the Academic team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid CDL Class-A License.
  • 3 years of experience in academic instruction in a post-secondary environment.
  • 5 years of commercial driving industry experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel a maximum of 75% throughout the year.
  • Ability to climb in and out of a tractor several times a day, lift to 50 lbs., and be on your feet 8-10 hours a day in all types of weather.

Nice To Haves

  • 7 years of experience in academic instruction in a post-secondary environment.
  • 10 years of experience in the field of commercial driving.
  • Working knowledge of federal/state government education regulations.
  • 7 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Previous experience as an academic program director.
  • Experience in student guidance or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the CDL Program.
  • Participate in curriculum development, revision, and implementation.
  • Conduct face-to-face product knowledge training for Admissions or student groups.
  • Hire, assign, orient, develop, evaluate, and recognize instructors.
  • Monitor and support the student population within the program.
  • Advise students during the provisional period and address complaints.
  • Analyze student population data and identify at-risk students.
  • Engage in the development and maintenance of the campus effectiveness plan.
  • Collect data to analyze program performance and share feedback with the Academic team.
