About The Position

Join Walmart's growing private fleet as a Class A CDL driver, contributing to the purpose of helping people save money to live better. This role offers competitive pay for all aspects of the job, not just miles, along with predictable schedules and modern equipment. Regional Truck Drivers have the potential to earn up to $110,000 in their first year, while Local Truck Drivers can earn up to $87,000 annually and are home every evening. Drivers are compensated with a fixed rate per mile, ranging from $0.55 to $0.69, with average annual miles between 62,355 and 196,040. Additional activity pay is provided for various tasks such as Arrive/Arrive Drop, Bridge Pay, Chain, Evening Shift Premium, Hook, Live Load, Layover, Live unload, Regional Pay, Stop/Stop Drop, and Weekend mileage. Other activities like Accident, Breakdown, Weather/Road Closure, Cleaning Rejected Trailer, Assigned tractor not available, Out of hours (70), Snow Removal assigned trailer, Undock Trailers, Trailer Weight issue, and Wait Time also receive activity pay. Drivers may also be eligible for Average Daily Pay (ADP) of $240 per day for circumstances like paid time off, safety days, holidays, bereavement, and jury duty, especially when attending full-day Walmart events.

Requirements

  • Interstate (Class A) Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat endorsement (including cleared background check) or will obtain HAZMAT endorsement (with cleared background check) within 120 calendar days of date of hire.
  • Minimum of 30 months experience working in a full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving position in the previous 3 years or successful completion of the Walmart Fleet Development Academy Program.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal and/or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations while operating a personal and/or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a personal and/or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last ten (10) years.
  • No preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history in personal and/or commercial motor vehicle.
  • Must currently live within 250 miles of the assigned facility or willing to establish a residence within 250 miles by 90 days from hire date.

  • Handle all required paperwork and electronic logs accurately and follow all DOT, state, and company guidelines.
  • Safely operate your tractor-trailer, inspecting it before, during, and after each trip to keep it in top shape.
  • Run optimized routes by following traffic laws and local restrictions—reducing delays and improving on-time delivery performance.
