PURPOSE: Transport materials, parts, equipment and vehicles for the construction/maintenance of lines and substations, and for plant projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma plus three years related experience such as driving semi-tractor/trailers or operating other related heavy-duty hydraulic equipment.
  • Must have excellent driving skills.
  • Must be familiar with DOT and ICC rules and regulations.
  • Must have functional mechanical knowledge.
  • Must have a basic level of computer knowledge and applications.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and Class A CDL.
  • Must obtain crane and forklift operator certification (within six (6) months of hire date).
  • Sitting, standing, walking (all types of terrain), kneeling, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting (up to 100 lbs. bulky equipment), crawling, twisting upper body, climbing hand-over-hand, bending, reaching and driving for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Drive semi-tractors/trailers, straight trucks, and other vehicles in a safe, legal manner.
  • Able to access remote locations via a pick-up, medium duty truck, and semi-tractor.
  • Operate hydraulic booms, cranes, and winches on company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Load, secure, and unload material, poles, transformers, parts, vehicles, and heavy work equipment.
  • Maintain and inspect department vehicles and keep equipment in good working order and ready for use.
  • Work in a safe manner complying with all DPC Safety Rules and Practices.
  • Comply with all state, federal and DOT requirements.
  • Transport over length, overweight, over width, and high loads in a safe and legal manner.
  • When possible, assist in the La Crosse Warehouse under the direction of the lead or Supervisor.
  • Utilize DPC applications and systems effectively to complete necessary tasks.
  • Other duties historically performed by this classification and other related or comparable duties as assigned.
