About The Position

Truck Driver Helper -NE_Thrift Store Department-401 Job Summary: Assists the Truck Driver in the loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve production needs of the store and/ or general operation of corps. Donations Pick-Ups and Deliveries Responsibilities (100%) Assists Truck Driver in lifting and stacking donations in the truck and unloading/loading truck. Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Maintains good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army. Places and arranges furniture, appliances, books, or other heavy items in the store as directed. Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted. Other Responsibilities: Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and loading dock area; picks up trash and debris surrounding the grounds as requested. Assists with placing items in the store as needed. Assists customers in carrying purchased/ donated items in/out of the store. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.
• Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
• High school or G.E.D. preferred but not required
• Prior experience driving a box truck preferred
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting.
• Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) frequently.
