About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Bloomfield, CT. The role offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a stable driving career. Drivers are guaranteed $1319 weekly, with additional pay for solo miles ($0.78 per mile for 1000 miles/week) and solo stops ($20.66 per stop for 5 stops/week). Paid training is provided. The schedule operates Sunday-Sunday with two consecutive days off, and a start time dispatch window between 1:00 AM - 5:00 AM. The position involves delivering solo to the New England Region (CT, NH, VT, RI, ME, MA, PA, and NY) on local, home daily routes. Equipment includes Day Cab tractors, Reefer trailers (48' and 58'), 28' Pups, and 26' Straight Trucks, along with Manual Pallet Jacks and Lift Gates. Ryder provides training on all necessary equipment. The freight involves touch freight, specifically groceries. Trucks are 36 months or newer, include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance, and company drivers can fuel at over 800 Maintenance Facilities Nationwide. Ryder also supports drivers interested in becoming company drivers by purchasing their trucks. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
